Our stay in the Maestrale Apartment We are a family of four (2 adults and 2 girls of 11 and 9) and had an absolutely wonderful 10 days in the Maestrale apartment in late October.

The apartment is clean, spacious, well furnished and cosy with a real rustic charm.

The kitchen is so well equipped that we actually spent most evenings in cooking our own food. It is part of the Podere Il Giurato complex and is set in lovely farmland with horses in the fields and an extensive garden around the apartments which the children loved.

They also loved playing with the owners' dogs and cat. We even saw a family of wild boar cross the track in front of us when we were driving back to the apartment one evening!

The best think about the apartment and our holiday was the friendship and hospitality of our hosts, Paola and Stefano.

They made us feel at home from the start and were so relaxed and helpful that everything ran like clockwork and the atmosphere was perfect.

We would definitely recommend staying at Paola's to anyone else and we are thinking of a return trip ourselves.Although in a rural setting you are within striking distance of the lovely village of Fauglia at the top of the hill.

You can get your morning croissant from here and it is a 4km walk or drive from the apartment.

Do try the amazing restaurant of La Gattaiola in Fauglia. The owner is a real character and serves the most amazing pasta dishes in an atmoshperic setting.

The apartment is also a good base from which to explore the rest of Tuscany. You are only three of four kilometres away from the main FILIPI (Firenze-Livorno-Pisa) motorway that takes you to most of the major cities and Chianti wine region.Thanks again Paola and Stefano for a wonderful time.
